Mindekirken’s Norwegian Language and Culture Program (MNCLP) is a community which provides learners of many ages with opportunities to build and extend their linguistic and cultural knowledge of norsk and Norge through language, literature, and conversation classes, as well as a variety of other cultural classes and events. CONVERSATIONAL NORWEGIAN- ONLINE

JEG VET HVOR DU BOR

Text: Jeg vet hvor du bor av Unni Lindell 

         

Born in South Korea but raised in Norway, Oslo police detective Marian Dahle makes her first appearance as the main character in Jeg vet hvor du bor.  Marian is a complicated character.  Her adoption was not a story with a happy ending, and her closest friend is her dog Birka.  Badly injured on a previous case, Marian is working cold cases, and it is soon apparent that the cold case she’s investigating is not just a matter of the past.  Lindell always gives her readers a lot to talk about, so please join us as we finish reading and discussing this novel.  This class is conducted in Norwegian and includes grammar review.

Triangelgåten is the twelfth novel in Jørn Lier Horst’s young adult mystery CLUES series. TRAVEL SEMINAR

Spectacular Mountains, Waterfalls, and Fjords of Norway

 

Join us for a tour across beautiful landscape as we visit some of Norway’s most important national symbols featured in Eidvoll, Hamar, Lillehammer, Åndalsnes, and Trollstigen. We will also travel through Western Norway’s rugged terrain winding our way from Sunnmøre all the way back to Oslo. During a time when Norway's borders might be closed for all, but necessary travel, we will bring a piece of Norway to you.

 

This two-hour virtual seminar will be guided by Magne, a Møre og Romsdal native, and will use technology tools such as Zoom, PowerPoint, and other media. Seminar will be in English.

Kvinnekor draws together women who share an interest in Norway and choral music. Join us this year as we explore Norwegian music and bring Norway's rich tradition of adult community choir to life. Most of our music is divided into parts; reading music is a plus, but not a requirement.

Den Norske Klubben is a Norwegian language and culture group for kids around ages 6-10 led by Sophie Urberg Carlson with Krista Schweppe every other Sunday of each month, from 10-11 am. The program is back ONLINE this fall and the theme for the year is Sanger og Fortellinger (songs and stories)With an informal structure, activities may include games, songs, art projects, and dramatic play. There will be a theme for the year, but each week is independent from one another, so children can attend as they are able.

Registration is required, but it is FREE to attend. You will be emailed the Zoom meeting once you've registered.
