Søsterklokkene Part 3- IN-PERSON
SØSTERKLOKKENE- PART 3- IN-PERSON
Only 28 of the 2,000 stavkirker that once existed in Norway exist today. In Lars Mytting’s Søsterklokkene, the fate of Butangen stavkirke and its magical bells is interwoven with the fates of the three main characters: Astrid Hekne, whose ancestors had donated the bells to the church; Kai Schweigaard, the new minister who wants to modernize life in Butangen; and Gerhard Schönhauer, the German art and architecture student who has come to Butangen to supervise the dismantling and moving of the stave church to Germany. Set in the late 1800’s in a remote part of Telemark, Mytting uses historical detail to create a world for both his characters and his readers to inhabit. Please join us as we complete our journey back in time with Mytting´s characters. This class is conducted in Norwegian and includes grammar review for which we use Norsk grammatikk: Norsk som andrespråk, arbeidsbok.
Texts: Søsterklokkene by Lars Mytting and Norsk grammatikk: Norsk som andrespråk, arbeidsbok by Kirsti MacDonald.
